Pay Rate: 14.00 - 16.00 per hour (dependent on experience)
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 07:30 - 16:30 (additional hours as required)
About the Role
Total Staff are recruiting on behalf of an established waste and environmental services business for an experienced HGV Tanker Driver.
This role is strictly for qualified, competent drivers with proven HGV experience. You will be operating tankers and other HGV vehicles in a regulated, safety-critical environment. This is not a trainee or newly passed role - applicants must be confident working independently and handling complex collections and deliveries.
Key Responsibilities
Operate HGV vehicles (Category C or C+E), including tankers and curtain siders
Safely collect, transport, and discharge waste and materials from customer and internal sites
Confidently operate tanker equipment including pumps, hoses, valves, and fittings
Carry out daily vehicle safety checks in line with DVSA and company standards
Complete all transport and waste documentation accurately (job sheets, transfer notes, digital systems)
Use onboard systems or handheld devices to update routes and job progress
Follow all health, safety, environmental, and site-specific procedures without exception
Maintain a professional standard of vehicle cleanliness and presentation
Report defects, incidents, or near misses immediately
Work within legal driving hours and Working Time Directive requirements
Represent the business professionally at all customer and depot locations
Essential Skills, Licences & Experience
Applicants must meet all the following criteria:
Full UK driving licence with HGV Category C or C+E entitlement
ADR qualification
Valid Driver CPC
Digital Tachograph card
Minimum 2 years recent HGV driving experience (tankers, waste, utilities, or similar)
Proven experience operating HGVs in operational or industrial environments
Strong understanding of transport legislation and safety compliance
Able to work independently with minimal supervision
Reliable, safety-conscious, and professional
Highly Desirable:
Experience driving tanker or vacuum tanker vehicles
Waste, environmental, or hazardous materials background
Familiarity with waste transfer notes and duty of care requirements
