About the Opportunity
Total Staff are recruiting on behalf of a well-established Liverpool-based manufacturing business that is seeking a Finance Manager to take ownership of its on-site finance function following a planned retirement.
This is a senior, hands-on role within a small but stable organisation. You will act as the primary finance lead within the business, working closely with directors and liaising with an external firm of accountants who will continue to support statutory accounts and payroll.
The role is fully office-based and would suit someone who values consistency, visibility, and being embedded in the day-to-day workings of a business, rather than a hybrid or remote setup.
The Role
As Finance Manager, you will be responsible for the effective management of the companys financial operations, controls, and reporting. While the role carries senior responsibility, it remains practical and hands-on, suited to someone comfortable operating in an SME environment where flexibility and ownership are key.
Key Responsibilities
Full ownership of day-to-day finance operations using Sage 200
Preparation and submission of VAT returns
Production of monthly management accounts and financial reporting
Cashflow management, forecasting, and bank reconciliations
Oversight of sales and purchase ledgers
Budgeting support and financial planning
Acting as the main point of contact for external accountants
Ensuring compliance with financial controls and processes
Supporting directors with financial insight and analysis
Maintaining accurate records and supporting audits as required
Providing practical support within the office as needed in a small business environment
About You
Proven experience in a Finance Manager or senior accounts role within an SME
Strong working knowledge of Sage 200
Solid understanding of VAT, management accounts, and financial controls
Qualified, part-qualified, or qualified by experience candidates welcomed
Comfortable being the senior finance presence on site
Practical, reliable, and detail-focused
Looking for a long-term, stable position
