A Stable, Long-Term Electrical Engineering Role in Manufacturing

Total Staff are recruiting for an Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established, high-volume manufacturing site in Ellesmere Port.

This role is electrically biased, focusing on fault-finding, control systems, and electrical reliability across a busy production environment. Youll be working on heavy-duty automated machinery and material-handling equipment, keeping the site running safely and efficiently.

While there is some mechanical exposure as part of a multi-skilled team, the core of this role is electrical maintenance, diagnostics, and continuous improvement. Its a solid, permanent opportunity for an engineer who values stability, proper engineering standards, and a well-run site.

What Youll Be Doing

Carrying out electrical fault-finding and repairs on production and handling equipment
Diagnosing issues across motors, drives, control panels, isolators, contactors, relays, sensors, and safety circuits
Working with PLC-controlled machinery (fault-finding at I/O level; programming not essential but beneficial)
Maintaining and troubleshooting inverters, VSDs, encoders, photo-eyes, proximity sensors, and limit switches
Supporting planned preventative maintenance schedules to improve reliability and reduce downtime
Assisting with electrical installations, modifications, and upgrades to machinery and site services
Working alongside mechanical engineers during breakdowns and improvement projects
Ensuring all electrical work is completed safely, compliantly, and to site standards
Updating maintenance records and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives

Proven experience as an Electrical Maintenance Engineer or Multi-Skilled Engineer with a strong electrical bias
Solid background in industrial/manufacturing electrical systems
Confident fault-finding on motors, control circuits, sensors, drives, and panels
Electrical qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent)
Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings
A practical, hands-on engineer who can work independently and as part of a team
Strong health & safety awareness and disciplined approach to isolation procedures
